Death Is Certain, Life Is Not.

Death is a word that can scare anyone into living, but life is a word that can scare anyone to death.
I first said that back in 2007 (maybe 2008?) and it's something I hold to be very true.
Honestly speaking, death is terrifying. But life; that's the real nightmare.
Sometimes I think about the pros and cons to both.
As an example here's one pro and one con to each;
Life- Pro: life is a gift, and it is not certain. Con: Pain and suffering, from all angles.
Death- Pro: Peace. Con: Losing everyone. (things are not important, but the people are)

A lesson well learned is that death is certain, life is not.
Death, it's inevitable. It WILL happen. There is nothing that we can do about it.
Life...life is not a promise, it can be taken at anytime.
Life can be taken before we even begin the process.
Life is a gift that should be cherished.

How do you cherish something so short (in comparison)?
By living each and every moment like it was the last.
By loving with all you have and respect all life.

I can feel the life being siphoned right out of my veins, sometimes.
But others, I feel the life pouring right back.
I've always been the curious type.
So I've asked, many times, 'why?'
One simple word, but such a big question.
I've gone everywhere from priests to random people.
Nobody really knows.

I specify that I am not religious.
And that I do not want them to use religion to answer (or attempt to answer) my question.
And here I am. Writing a blog for everyone (whomever reads it) to see.
A blog stating that my question remains unanswered.
It will never be answered, I know now.
And somehow, I'm content with that.
Maybe it's because I know that no one is meant to know.
Or maybe it's because I've just come to terms.

However, I do love hearing other people's opinions.
I'm open minded to the extreme. And I love exploring other perspectives.
Anyone willing to share their thoughts, please do!

You Only Live Once. (part II)

Tell me, what gives anyone the right to claim ownership to a person?
Everything is bogus; if you look closely.
To sum it all up - we've created an illusion.

This would be longer and more descriptive.
But everything I have to say is right there.

You Only Live Once.

Hello. My name is Ruby.
I'm eighteen years old and I'm a human being.
My goal in life is to do more than just exist.
I have a lot of thoughts on the world; on life.
And I'm just one person in a world of billions.
I don't have the power to make change.
But if I had the chance, I'd do so much.
My personal thoughts, I'm going to share with you.

Here goes nothing;

Life is not about money, clothes, television, or any material/superficial things.
Life is about moments. Moments with your family, friends, significant other...
Life is about living.
Don't subject yourself to all the superficial things, such as weight, clothes, trends.
If I had the power to change the world...boy, would I!
What the world needs is a real person to help it.
Not a celebrity that only cares about publicity.
Not politicians that just want their face on a magazine.
Real people. Honest people who really care.

Think about some of the things that are going on in the world.
There are children who are starving. Eating scraps from dumpsters.
Their parents are either dead or abandoned.
They know more than anyone what pain is.
But do they take it out on the people around them?
No. They live their lives trying to make themselves better.
Trying to give themselves a life.
Trying to survive in this material world.
All they want is to be happy.
They live their lives, they help OTHER people who have it better than them.
But they get spit on in return.

What is wrong with the world?
Nobody cares.
And the people that DO care?
No one will listen.

-How much you weigh.
-How good you look.
-What kind of clothes you have.
-What kind of jewelry you have.
-All the name brand fashions.
-How cool your car is.
-How much money you have.
They shouldn't matter.

Why spend your life wanting THINGS?
Life is about living. About being happy, with what you have.

Look at all the things that happen everyday!
-Murder.
-Suicide.
-War.
-Fathers and/or mothers beating, killing and leaving their children.
-Rape.
-Robbery.
And oh! I could go on.
But why should I? You get the picture.

We're all human beings.
No one person is better than the other.
Why shouldn't everyone be treated with the utmost respect?

If I had the power to change the world, I would do just that.

Fame shouldn't matter.
Money shouldn't matter.
Being the 'cool' person shouldn't matter.
But no one sees past the superficial front.

People are killed over iPods for god's sake!
Why? What's the point?
There isn't one.
Not at all.

Why should one person be treated better than another?

I don't care about who's fucking who, who's a whore, who has the best clothes, etc...
I really don't.
I don't care about being liked or hated for who I am.
I am who I am. I'm not changing for anyone.
No one should.

Now, everyone likes nice things.
I do. It's just the way we work.
But that doesn't mean that they should be your number one priority.
I look at clothes and shoes and cars.
Yes, I may want them.
But I won't really care if I get them or not.
What's the point? Honestly?
Can you tell me WHY people aspire to have all these things?
It's not like we take them with us when we die.
And they get thrown out eventually.
Humans buy things that they don't need all the time.

Personally, I think that natural resources should be free.
Do you really think that getting a burger for a dollar is a good deal?
I don't. And it's not just because I'm a vegetarian, either.
If it comes from the earth and we need it to survive, then why should we be charged for it?
We really shouldn't.

Why the fuck do they even charge for water?
I mean, seriously. It doesn't make sense.

Honesty:
$20.00 for a meal that people are just going to shit out later.
$2.00 for a drink that people are just going to piss out later.
Do you see my point?

And back to material things.
Do we really NEED that new purse from Gucci?
Or those new $300.00 shoes from...shit. I don't know what the names of these stores are.
Are we going to die if we don't get them?

I'd like you to think about this.
I'll make a part two later, how about it?
